The Bearded Nomad
About
My name is Joshua Ames. I am a retired Air Force Veteran with 21 years of service and the owner of The Bearded Nomad Mobile RV Maintenance and Service. I graduated from the NRVTA (National Recreational Vehicle Training Academy) in 2025 and am a Certified RV Technician and inspector.
After retiring, my wife and I wanted to travel around the United States and see our fantastic country. What better way to do that than in an RV? My goal going forward, in addition to enjoying my retirement and seeing this country with my wife, is to provide high-quality, efficient, and reliable RV maintenance, service, and inspection services throughout our travels. Call or email me if you or anyone else needs repairs or maintenance done on RVs, Horse Trailers, or Food Trucks, or needs an Inspection on an RV.

Right Person at The Right Time
While staying at Mesa Verde RV Resort this morning, our Minnie Winnie's Suburban furnace began malfunctioning—it would start but wouldn't continue running. Fortunately, the campground host, Joshua Ames, is a retired Air Force veteran who operates a mobile RV repair service called 'The Bearded Nomad.' Josh quickly diagnosed and resolved the issue in approximately 20 minutes. His exceptional diagnostic abilities clearly stem from his military background combined with specialized RV technical training he pursued after retirement. It was one of those perfect situations where the right person with the right skills was exactly where we needed them. Josh's friendly demeanor and expert troubleshooting capabilities made the entire experience seamless. I wholeheartedly recommend both Mesa Verde RV Resort and The Bearded Nomad for anyone traveling through the Mesa Verde/Cortez, Colorado area.

Fixed the issue !
I had been smelling lingering propane for a couple months in my RV van after cooking and after filling the tank , but could not find a leak by visually. I was getting concerned and contacted Josh. After not finding a leak , he was persistent and did a pressure drop test which failed 3 times. Tightened all of the fittings, including the regulator all the way under the van. That did the trick and the test came back ok three times. Took care of the issue immediately. And I feel much safer thank you Josh.

My slide out now works perfectly
I’ve been having issues with on of my Schwintek slide outs since I bought my used 5th wheel. New motors installed didn’t alleviate the problem. Fast forward ten months and in about an hour, Josh fixed the problem. He got the slide back in sync and took the time to label each controller so I would know which one was for the kitchen or bedroom and whether it was the forward or aft motor. He then took time to show me how to reset these slides. Above and beyond! Thanks Josh!

Installed tankless water heater
When we purchased our RV we thought a 16 gallon water tank would be sufficient. We learned quickly that this was incorrect! I reached out to Josh and asked if he would be able to replace our water tank with a tankless. He responded immediately and requested information on the tank we had and our rig. He quickly found the correct equipment that would work for us. Once he received the equipment, he removed the old tank and installed the tankless system. He made sure everything worked properly and disposed of the old system. It was wonderful to work with him and I would not hesitate to reach out to him in the future for repair issues.
