About

New Horizons is owned and operated by Brian Kinnear. Brian graduated from the NRVTA as both a Certified Inspector and Technician. He has owned several RVs and used them for vacations with the family. Now that the family has all grown up and flown the coop, they decided to sell everything and join the growing number of Americans using their RV as their home full-time. Brian has worked in the Power Generation and Oil And Gas industries in Engineering and Project Management up until 2021 when he left that behind to start a business in the RV industry as a Certifed Inspector then a Certifed RV Technician. As a keen mechanic, Brian has undertaken all the repairs necessary on his Motorhomes and decided to get Certified as an RV Inspector due to the faults that he found on used unit's at his friend's RV dealership. There were few inspectors around qualified at that time to provide the same level of Inspection services that a NRVIA Inspector can provide. Seeing this as an opportunity, he signed up with NRVTA for training. He followed this up with training to be a Certifed RV Technician due to the huge shortage there is out there in the RV Industry. So, if you need an Inspection on your New or Pre-owned RV then give us a call and we can discuss what services we provide and how they will benefit you in your purchase. As RV's are subject to Hurricane force winds and forces similar to an earthquake when they are rolling down the road then, some things are going to break. Again, call us and we will do out very best to get you back up and running in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible. As of Jan 2024, We have opened a repair facility in Santa Fe, TX in order to carry out larger repairs and upgrades. We also specialize in Flat Tow setups. We also supply & install Magneshade Products.

Brian was a lifesaver. We had come to Houston Tx for Medical Tests. Our hot water went out and our A/C kept tripping the breaker. Brian came out the next day and fixed everything. He was very nice and made sure all was working right before he left. I would highly recommend him again

Very disappointed

I contacted Brian about 10:15 a.m. and he said he would be able to come out, same day, in "the afternoon". I waited and waited, finally calling at about 4 to see if he was still coming. The call went to voicemail, so I figured he was ghosting me. At 4;45 pm he showed yp. He took a cursory look at the issue. Said he could do it, but was ultimately hoping he good get someone to come with him. He spent a lot of time telling us a bunch of stuff completely unrelated to our problem. Charged us $75. He left and said he'd be back the next day to work on our repair. Again, no word from him all morning, finally I called him after noon - again no answer, so I left a message. At about 12;25 he returned my call saying he would be there in 40 minutes. An hour later, at 1;30, he shows up. Very grumpy, alone, and obviously not happy about having to do the job. We had made a mistake using the Valterra Flush King and water (not black water) was dripping from our belly pan. We believed that a rubber hose had probably popped loose and needed to be reattached. We have an Airstream and Brian indicated he was very familiar with Airstream. Two hours into dropping the belly pan he determined there was something wrong with the black tank and he "doesn't do black tanks" - even though there was no indication that there was anything wrong with the black tank. [We have since learned that the black tank is meant to drop a little when the belly pan is lowered (and if he had the knowledge of Airstreams that he indicated he had, he would have known that)]. Another hour and twenty minutes later he has put the belly pan back up and says we need to go to the dealer for the work and charges us another $385. It was apparent from the beginning that he did not want to do the job - but hey, he's now $470 richer for doing next to nothing with terrible customer service.

We were staying at Alvin RV resort in Alvin Texas and has an issue with power to our refrigerator. It just so happens that Brian lives at the resort and was recommended by the resort management. He came over and accessed the situation, came back the next day and tracked down the issue and had us up and running in no time. He was friendly, knowledgeable and even gave us some tips regarding our fifth wheel. Plus the cost was SO reasonable!! Would definitely recommend him!

Brian did an amazing job getting my Jeep setup to tow behind my motorhome. Besides getting the baseplate installed, he made sure that I had all pieces necessary to work with the equipment I already had. After all was said and done he also spent time showing me how to connect everything and ensured that everything was working perfectly before I left.

Brian was very methodical installing slide out covers on our fifth wheel. His expertise is very good and found a way to fit one that was too long. I will have him do work for me again when needed. Thanks Brian and his #1 helper Stephanie. The climate was very hot during the day but he worked through those conditions. Jon Stephens
