Jason and Lisa Carletti of My RV Inspection in Mulberry, Florida, have built their reputation on uncovering the things RV buyers can’t see — and sometimes the things sellers would rather you didn’t. With over 1,500 inspections since 2017, they’ve helped customers from across Florida and beyond make smarter, safer buying decisions.
Serving a broad area that includes Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando, Ocala, Fort Myers, and surrounding regions, Jason and Lisa work with both local buyers and those purchasing remotely. As RV inspectors certified by both the NRVIA and RVTI, they bring meticulous attention to detail to every inspection — whether it’s for a 10-year-old motorhome or a brand-new fifth wheel fresh from the dealer’s lot.
From the Road to the Inspection Bay
The Carlettis didn’t set out to become RV inspectors. In 2016, they hit the road full-time when Lisa took a traveling nurse position and Jason left his job. “Once we got out on the road, I realized it’s kind of boring being the house husband,” Jason laughs. Then Lisa spotted an ad for the NRVTA training school. Jason attended in 2017, graduated, and began inspecting RVs, eventually becoming one of the nation’s only Master Certified RV inspectors. Lisa followed and became certified herself in 2018.
They’ve been at it ever since, combining their skills to help buyers avoid costly mistakes. Jason explains that some clients use their reports to walk away from a deal, while others use them to negotiate on price or repairs — but in all cases, the buyers are able to make informed decisions.
Why Inspections Matter, Even for New RV’s
One of the biggest misconceptions in the RV world? That a brand new RV doesn’t need inspecting. Between them, Jason and Lisa estimate they’ve inspected around 800 brand-new RVs. “We have never not found issues with an RV,” Jason says, “and that's issues as in plural.”
Without an inspection, those problems may surface on the very first trip, sending the RV back to the dealership for months of warranty work. “That’s three or four months of payments on something you can’t use,” Jason points out.
While water intrusion is the most common hidden issue, they also find problems in other systems — like air conditioners that only partly work. Jason explains that they test each one independently so they know for a fact whether they are all running properly.
A Hidden Danger With a Simple Fix
Not every problem is expensive or complicated to fix — but some are too important to overlook. Jason recalls one issue they find often: a faulty grommet on the water heater’s propane line. “It’s a life safety issue,” he says. “If propane leaks into the RV, it could be deadly. It sounds scary, but the fix can be as simple as sealing with high-temperature silicone or replacing the grommet.”
Tips for Every RV Buyer
The Carlettis have inspected RVs for buyers all over the country, including many who purchased sight-unseen. Here are a few of their top tips:
Walk away if the seller refuses an independent inspection. “That’s a huge red flag,” Jason warns.
Check tire date codes. Old, neglected tires can signal other maintenance issues.
And obviously, always get a pre-purchase inspection — even for new RVs.
