Backing Up with Confidence: Teresa Willis’s Mission to Empower RV Owners

When Teresa Willis first taught a group of women how to back up their RVs, she didn’t expect it to change the course of her career. As a former truck driver, backing up came naturally to her, and she volunteered to help fellow members of the Sisters on the Fly camping group.

“It was so much fun,” Teresa recalls. “I thought, oh my gosh, this could be a business.”

That spark turned into Sparkle Travel & RV Services, a thriving business based in St. Louis, Missouri, offering RV inspections, education, and RV driving lessons.

Today, Teresa blends her skills as an NRVIA-certified RV inspector, registered RV technician, and former truck driver with a Class A CDL with her passion for teaching to help RV buyers, owners, and drivers feel confident in every part of their journey.

From Truck Driver to Trusted RV Professional

Teresa launched her business in 2019. After becoming involved with an RV travel group called Sisters on the Fly and volunteering to teach women how to back their trailers at one of the group's events, she was inspired by other group members to pursue RV inspector certification. In 2022, she trained at the National RV Training Academy to become a Certified RV Inspector and Registered RV Technician. Today, she combines her professional training with her background as a former truck driver and Class A CDL holder to offer inspections, consulting, workshops, and driving lessons.

“I love helping people learn about their RVs,” Teresa says. “And I love helping people drive and back their RVs. Teaching is absolutely my favorite part of this business.”

Teaching Women to Take the Wheel

One of the most inspiring aspects of Sparkle RV is Teresa’s dedication to teaching women how to confidently drive and back their RVs.

As a woman who once drove trucks professionally, she understands both the technical side of handling a large vehicle and the intimidation many women feel. “My second favorite thing,” she says with a grin, “is rescuing men when they’re having trouble with their RVs—and teaching men how to back up their RVs, because, you know, I’m a girl.”

Her RV Driving and Backing Lessons give women (and men) the confidence to hit the road safely. Whether it’s mastering backing maneuvers or just feeling at ease behind the wheel, Teresa’s goal is empowerment through hands-on learning.

Building Community Through Travel

What really sets Teresa apart is how she combines technical expertise with a deep love of community and adventure travel. For more than 30 years, she has been organizing group trips that bring people together for fun, relaxation, and shared experiences.

Through Sparkle Travel & RV Services, Teresa leads everything from Nana Camp with her grandchildren to women’s weekends, rallies, and customized group adventures. Her trips are welcoming, flexible, and community-focused—whether she’s guiding first-time RVers or seasoned road trippers. These events aren’t just about travel—they’re about building friendships, creating memories, and supporting one another on the road.
